Winner revealed
Brand new to Imbibe Live this year was the Imbibe Sommelier Challenge, part of the Sommelier Hub, a new VIP area designed exclusively for sommeliers and wine buyers.
The Imbibe Sommelier Challenge was purely palate based, with sommeliers and wine buyers testing their palates across four different categories; red, white, sparkling and sweet. Entrants were given 15 minutes to select the correct tasting note for each wine, and also pin point the exact region and grape variety.
The award for the winner is £1,000, the biggest cash prize for any UK sommelier competition.
With over 65 entries from some of the country’s top sommeliers, the competition was fierce. Entrants included sommeliers and wine buyers from renowned establishments such as The Gilbert Scott, Oxo Tower, Galvin La Chapelle, Texture, Hakkasan, 28°-50° and Hotel du Vin.

The Imbibe Sommelier Challenge will return to the Sommelier Hub at Imbibe Live 2014 on the 1st and 2nd July, with a new range of unmissable masterclasses, tastings and seminars.
